Art show ‘Amity’ underway at AFD

The group art exhibition titled ‘Amity’ by Amitab Sarker, Faria Khanum Tuly, and Suman Biswas has begun at Galerie Zoom, Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD).

Professor Dr Bazlur Rashid Khan was present at the inaugural ceremony of the exhibition held on February 24.

Artist Amitab Sarkar believes nature is the ultimate mentor of the art world. Following this, he uses liberties to apply bright colours to detailed patterns that were inspired by what he saw in his natural surroundings both devastation and essence. Mostly, he uses acrylic colour, which is the most flexible type of paint. These artworks are based on the forms that he observed in nature, which were used as a starting point to create an imaginative, fragmented abstract work of art. Amitab Sarker is currently working as a guest lecturer at Tagore University of Creative Arts (TUCA).

Faria KhanumTuly is a young contemporary artist. In her artworks, she used acrylic and mixed media to create an impression to inspire empowerment, equity, and confidence among women in our society. She strongly believes in empowering women at all levels of society. She loves to play with colours to express her thoughts about the deep desires of womanhood.

In young artist Suman Biswas’s acrylic-based artworks, the textural random lines visualize a subconscious relationship between every natural object, like trees, animals, people, etc. As an independent artist, his concept of experiencing oneself is through meditation.

The exhibition is open to all every day except Sundays from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm till March 10.
