Popularly known as the ‘Pop Guru’ of Bangladesh, Azam Khan, the legendary Bangladeshi singer, was considered to be one of the main pioneers of popular Bangladesh pop music. If the singer was alive today, he would have been celebrating his 73rd birth anniversary today. He was born in Azimpur on this day in 1950.

On this occasion, giving tribute to the legend, a young musician named Bijoy Mamun has rendered a song titled ‘Asi Asi Bole Tumi Ar Ele Na’. The music piece was released yesterday under the banner of Nihon Bangla Production.

Azam Khan was also a freedom fighter who took part and fought for the freedom of Bangladesh in 1971. Following the Liberation War, he made his presence felt in the music scenario with his band Uccharon. Bangladesh Television broadcasted his first concert in 1972.
