Coke Studio Bangla drops new song ‘Bonobibi’

After the success of the first song, Coke Studio Bangla dropped their latest song, ‘Bonobibi’ in the early hours of Friday.

The song is sung by the country’s popular band, ‘Meghdol’. It also contains members of the Ghaashphoring Choir along with artistes who lent their voices in Geet.

While the Coke Studio creation ‘Bonobibi’ is breaking boundaries and winning hearts, Shirin Akter Shela also created an interesting atmosphere in the music video as Bonobibi performer.

The song ‘Bonbibi’ is about the myth of the same name, heard around the areas in the Sundarbans. Bonobibi is a manifestation of the protective, healing, and nurturing traits of mother nature. In Bangladeshi folklore, she has protected forest dwellers from the paws of Dakshin Rai, who used to shapeshift as a tiger.

Even today, nature has nurtured the people of this land. Beyond the chaos of urban life- a part of our hearts still yearns to go back to the lore, legends, and fables we have grown up with. The song is dedicated to that urge.

The song was written by Shibu Kumer Shill and Mejbaur Rahman Sumon.

The song from popular band, Meghdol binds that soundscape and lends a beautiful space to the wisdom of ‘Khonar Bochon’ (Khona’s Parables), which for hundreds of years taught us Bengalis the way of life bound to nature. Meghdol also composed the music and produced the song. Shibu Kumer Shill composed the song.

However, the choir arrangement has been done by Rasheed Sharif Shoaib and Armeen Musa.

‘Bonobibi’ has already garnered positive appreciation from the audience. Following the release of the song, it received 329,496 views, 31 thousand likes, and 3.4 thousand comments on YouTube up until the filing of this report at 3:00 pm on Friday.

Shibu Kumer Shill and Mejbaur Rahman Sumon were the lead vocalists, but Jahura Baul, Shuchona Shely, Nabia Mitul, Farzana Iva, Doly Mondol, and Priya Biswas have done amazing work while singing the Geet for the song.

After the successful launch of Coke Studio Bangla season 1, the new season began its magical journey on February 14 with the song ‘Murir Tin’.
