Tahmeena Sultana Mou is playing the lead role in the Liberation War-based teledrama Swadhinatar Swapner Phool’. The drama will be aired on Bangladesh Television on March 10.
She will be seen playing the role of a Birangana named Sakhina.
Although earlier Mou acted in several dramas on the Liberation War, according to the actress, she never got the opportunity to play a challenging role like Sakhina.
“I have not seen the film ‘Birangana Sakhina’ before, but I knew Babita ma’am in her decorated career once played the role of Birangana in a movie. It was very challenging for me to play the central role in the teledrama. The whole unit tried to put their best effort into this project. Although I am not satisfied with my performance, I think it could have been done better. Still, I hope the audience will like it,” said Mou.
The teledrama is based on a story written by eminent writer Jahanara Imam. However, Shihab Shahriar wrote the screenplay of the teledrama.
It revolves around Sakhina, an expert in midwifery, who worked in the camps of freedom fighters during the liberation war as well as in the camps of the Pakistani invaders. While gathering information for the freedom fighters, Sakhina was once raped by two barbaric soldiers from the invaders’ camp. From then on, Sakhina took a cleaver knife in her hand and started her fight, actively disguising a mentally challenged woman against the Razakars and the Pakistani soldiers. She also helps to encourage the youth to fight for the country.
The shooting took place in Pubail near the capital.
