Shyam Benegal undergoes dialysis

Acclaimed director Shyam Benegal undergoes dialysis as his both kidneys have failed. He is taking the dialysis at home as his health is deteriorating and is not able to visit the hospital for proper treatment.

According to Times of India, although Shyam Benegal was well in the past, he was unable to visit the office in recent times. The 88-year-old filmmaker who won multiple national awards is now advised to rest at home by doctors.

Shyam Benegal, who was the president of the Federation of Film Societies of India, has won almost eight National awards. Shyam bagged the first National award for the film ‘Ankur’ which was released in the year 1974. Shyam also won National awards for the films ‘Bhumika: The Role’ (1977), ‘Junoon’ (1978), ‘Arohan’ (1982), ‘Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero’ (2004), ‘Manthan’ (1976), and ‘Well Done Abba’ which was released in the year 2010.

Reports also say that Shyam Benegal was planning for his next film which is titled ‘Mujeeb: the Making of a Nation’ that revolves around the life of the first President of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
