Film Syndicate to bring 12 new projects

Film Syndicate, the studio behind swashbuckling web-series ‘Karagar’, ‘Kaiser’, ‘Unoloukik’, and ‘Taqdeer’, revealed its upcoming 12 productions at a gala event held at the Gulshan Club yesterday. The grand event was attended by various artistes and filmmakers.

An artistic venture founded by creative professionals based in Dhaka — the de-facto capital of Bengali language, Film Syndicate aims to venture into the still-untapped market of 300 million Bengali-speaking audiences and beyond.

In his introductory remarks, Film Syndicate’s founder and CEO Mir Mukarram Hossain elaborated on the mission and vision of the venture.

Tanim Noor, one of the co-founders who created KAISER, explained the avenues of the creative collaborations Film Syndicate aims to achieve with their works. He emphasizes curating productions of filmmakers and writers at the studio. His fellow Syed Ahmed Shawki announced the upcoming 12 productions-- ‘Unoloukik 2’, ‘Pendulum’, ‘Gulmohar’ , ‘Delta 2051’, ‘Doito’, ‘Odanab’ and ‘Friends Without Benefit’.

Meanwhile, the five upcoming feature films are ‘Lohani’, directed by Tanim Noor; ‘By-pass’, directed by Syed Ahmed Shawki; ‘Khowari’ and ‘Pulsirat’, directed by Saleh Sobhan Auneem, and ‘Hell Broke Loose’, directed by Rajib Rafi.

Following the success of Kaiser, Tanim Noor will be directing two of the new projects –crime thriller Lohani and mystery drama Pendulum.

Gulmohar – a mystery drama series and feature film Bypass are the newest creative ventures of Syed Ahmed Shawki for Film Syndicate.

Krishnendu Chattopadhyay, the visual director of Coke Studio Bangla, is coming up with a sci-fi web-series, Delta 2051.

An Asian Academy Creative Awards winner for the anthology series Jaago Bahey, Saleh Sobhan Auneem’s take will be feature films Khowari and Pulsiraat.

Punorjonmo franchise-famed Vicky Zahed has collaborated with Film Syndicate with his sci-fi mystery thriller Adanob. Rabiul Alam Robi is coming back with Unoloukik 2, the second installment of paranormal anthology series which rocked the Bengali audience in 2021.

Ayman Asib Shadhin and Susmoy Sarker will debut as directors with thriller-mystery drama anthology Doito while Rajib Rafi is kicking off his directorial career with drama film Hell Broke Loose.

The comedy series of two people from two countries meeting in a third land, Friends Without Benefits will mark Riad Arfin’s directorial debut.

In their individual careers, Film Syndicate founders made short and feature-length films, documentaries, and fictional productions such as No Ground Beneath the Feet, Patalghor, Fire Esho Behula, Sincerely Yours, Dhaka, Light Camera Objection, etc.
