To celebrate the Independence Day of Bangladesh, popular OTT platform Chorki has created a new category on their website, titled ‘Joy of Independence’ which offers the audience to watch seven special films for free.
The seven films are ‘Ekattorer Jishu’, ‘Guerrilla’, ‘Ora 11 Jon’, ‘Alor Michil’, ‘Emon Deshti Kothao Khuje Pabe Nako Tumi’, ‘Surja Dighal Bari’, and the Chorki Original web-series ‘Jaago Bahey’.
The new segment that was added on March 23 will be removed on March 29. Any fan hoping to enjoy these Independence Day specials, could easily register on Chorki and watch the shows for free.
The three-episode long web series, ‘Jaago Bahey’ (2021) directed jointly by Siddiq Ahamed, Saleh Sobhan Auneem, and Shukorno Shahed Dhiman is based on the historic Language Movement of Bangladesh. The series casts Chanchal Chowdhury, Lutfor Rahman George, Farhana Hamid, Mostafa Monwar, Intekhab Dinar, and Aparna Ghosh, among others.
Directed by Nasiruddin Yousuff, ‘Guerrilla’ (2011) features the struggles of the common people during the Liberation War. The film stars Ferdous Ahmed and Joya Ahsan in the lead roles.
Nasiruddin Yousuff’s ‘Ekattorer Jishu’ (1993) is another amazing film portraying the historic Liberation War of the nation. The film stars Pijush Bandyopadhyay, Humayun Faridi, Shahiduzzaman Selim, and Abul Khair, among others.
Chashi Nazrul Islam’s legendary Liberation War-based film, ‘Ora 11 Jon,’ (1972) is the first Liberation War-based film after the nation’s birth, starring Khosru Noman, Abdur Razzak, Shabana, and A.T.M. Shamsuzzaman, amongst others.
‘Surja Dighal Bari’ (1979) directed and produced by Sheikh Niamat Ali and Masihuddin Shaker was the first film made with a grant from the Government of Bangladesh. It stars Dolly Anwar, Rawshan Jamil, Sitara Begum, ATM Shamsuzzaman, Elora Gohor, and others.
‘Alor Michil’ (1974) focuses on the independence movement of 1971. Written and directed by Narayan Ghosh Mita, it stars Abdur Razzak, Babita, Farooque, and Anwar Hussain in lead roles.
Directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki the film ‘Emon Deshti Kothao Khuje Pabe Nako Tumi’ (2009) goes with the story, after independence from Pakistan, Bangladesh crossed its 37 years but Sufiya Begum after the loss of her twin sons Shaon, and Badhon still hasn’t got her independence from Rajakar Mahbub. The film stars Kamal Hossain Babor, Mosharraf Karim, Sohel Khan, and others
