‘Dostojee’ now screening in the USA

The Bengali film ‘Dostojee’, directed by Prasun Chatterjee, has garnered global recognition for its portrayal of a heart-warming friendship story. The film has already been screened in 26 countries and won nine international awards.

The film was released in the United States on March 17 under the banner of Bioscope Films LLC of California.

Bioscope Films is showcasing the movie in 75 cities across 26 US states, including Long Island, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, and Hartford. Additionally, the film is being shown in 15 theatres in Canada.

‘Dostojee’ made history by airing a Bengali movie trailer for the first time on the famous Times Square billboard in New York.

Director Prasun Chatterjee expressed his excitement about the milestone achievement.

The film narrates the story of Palash and Safiqul, two friends from different castes living in a remote village along the India-Bangladesh border in the 1990s. The film portrays the emotions of two young friends, including honour, shame, murder, and silent love. The story is set in the aftermath of the destruction of Babri Masjid and the Mumbai blasts.

The movie stars Asik Sheikh as Palash and Arif Sheikh as Safikul. Jayati Chakraborty, Swatilekha Kundu, and Anujoy Chatterjee also played significant roles in the film. The cinematography of the film was done by Tuhin Biswas, while Sujoy Dutta Roy and Shantanu Mukhopadhyay edited it.

‘Dostojee’ has already received rave reviews and international recognition, and its release in the US has furthered its impact.
