A special screening of the government-funded full-length children’s film ‘Mike’ based on Bangabandhu’s historic March 7 speech was held on March 28 at the TSC auditorium of Dhaka University.

The show was also attended by actor Tariq Anam Khan, Ferdous Ahmed, Tanveen Sweety, Nader Chowdhury, and the other cast and crew of the film.

About the film, Bangladesh Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif said, “Mike is a movie based on the rich history of Bangladesh. The 7th March speech was banned after the assassination of Bangabandhu in 1975, and the upswing of the Razakars. The film depicts that history. This children-based film is amazing. The film ‘Mike’ will convey Bangabandhu’s speech to the young generation. There should be more movies like ‘Mike’.”

Awami League Central Executive Member Sanjida Khanum said, “I am very impressed by the movie ‘Mike’. I hope that the ideals of the father of the nation will be spread among the young generation through this movie.”

Education and Human Resource Secretary Shamsun Nahar Chapa said, “I am very happy to see ‘Mike’ movie. I am very happy. The 7th March speech has been depicted properly through the film.”

Earlier, the makers of the film seeks Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s intervention to recover footage of the government-funded full-length children’s film ‘Mike’ through a press conference held at Sagar-Runi Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity on February 15.

Director and producer of the film FM Shaheen said, “Anytime between 10 pm on February 8 and 10 am on February 9, at the office of bbarta24net.com and Jagran TV on the 11th floor of Padma Islami Life Insurance Bhaban, miscreants stole the portable hard disk containing the latest edited footage of the film ‘Mike’ that was kept in my desk drawer. The estimated value of the footage is Tk 1 crore 25 lahks.”

They also claimed that police did not cooperate with them to find the culprits from the beginning.
