Waiting for Popy

No one can provide correct information about the National Film Award-winning actress Sadika Parvin Popy, what she is doing, or where she is staying! But it is heard that she got married, and gave birth to children. Nobody can give the truth of this news too. There is no news of Popy, but some are still waiting for Popy’s return.

Rupak Kiran Talukder, a businessman of Sylhet met Popy in 2019 at Popy’s residence located in New Eskaton in the capital on Popy’s birthday. At that time Rupak had a serious talk with Popy about a film based on a life story. Popy heard the story and expressed prodigious interest to work in the film. After being reassured by Popy, Rupak was prepared to make the film with his close friend director Tariqul Islam.

Rupak has also completed the script writing of the movie by a popular scriptwriter. All preparations for the production of the film are done, but the director and producer are waiting for Popy. Director Tariqul Islam also explained the reason for this.

Tariqul Islam said, “Rupak Kiran Talukder talk to me about making the film a long time ago. He has already spoken to me several times about making the film. But due to Popy’s sudden disappearance, we have stopped the production of the movie for the time being. As Rupak has expressed his keen interest to make the film with Popy, so we are waiting for Popy. But I don’t know how long this wait really is. We have tried to contact Popy several times. But the result is null. However, as the name of the film is ‘Tomar Hasite Bhadu, Janina Ki Ache Jaadu’, I want to make the film with Popy. Popy’s smile matches the name of the movie. Now we are waiting for her.”

On the other hand, Popy and Amin Khan starrer film ‘Direct Attack’ is awaiting release. Director Sadeque Siddiqui has been delaying the release of his latest film ‘Direct Attack’ several times for Popy.

Popy’s first role was in director Sohanur Rahman Sohan’s film ‘Amar Ghor Amar Behesht’, but before it was released she made her film debut in ‘Coolie’ (1997), directed by Montazur Rahman Akbar. She debuted in the television drama in ‘Nayak’, directed by Shahidul Islam Khan. She performed in the web series, ‘Garden’ and ‘Indubala’. She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress three times for the films ‘Karagar’ (2003), ‘Megher Koley Roud’ (2008), and ‘Gangajatra’ (2009).
