Actress Deepa Khandkar is celebrating her silver jubilee in the media, marking 25 years since she started her career in the industry.
On the silver jubilee of her media career, Deepa expressed her gratitude to Kazi Shahedul Islam, who introduced her to acting, and to her aunt, freedom fighter Farida Akhter, and sister Rupa for their support. She also thanked her producers, directors, co-artists, journalists, and audience. “It seems like twenty-five years have passed in the blink of my eyes. Hundreds of memories are appearing before my eyes today. I’m really grateful to all my producers, directors, co-artistes, journalists, and especially the audience, as it is because of them that I am who I am today.”
Born in Narayanganj, Deepa began her journey in 1998, as a model for an advertisement ‘Lipton Taja Cha’. She then professionally started her acting career in June 1999 with the thirteen-episode serial ‘Kaktaruya,’ written and directed by Kazi Shahedul Islam. Deepa’s performance received praise from media personalities like Afzal Hossain, Tony Dyes, and Imdadul Haque Milan.
However, by then, Deepa had begun working as a cabin crew member for GMG Airlines in April 1999. But due to her involvement in acting, she had to resign two years later. Since then, Deepa’s life has been devoted to acting, and she has become a cherished actress in the entertainment industry. Deepa joined Azad Abul Kalam’s ‘Prachyanat School of Acting and Design’ to learn acting and has acted in many popular dramas with the theatre troupe.
After many years in the industry, Deepa debuted as a silver-screen actress with the film, ‘Bhaijaan,’ and has since appeared in several other films. She also modeled in the first music video for a song by ‘Pancham’ directed by Ringo.
Deepa’s father, Khandaker Sultan Uddin, died in 1987, and her mother, Juthika Akhtar, worked in an NGO, raising Deepa and her siblings single-handedly. Deepa married Shahedi Ali in 2006 and is a mother of a son and a daughter.
Deepa’s best friend in the media is Tanveen Sweety, while her best friend outside the industry is her school friend Farzana Hossain Munna. Congratulations to Deepa Khandkar on her successful 25 years in the media, and we look forward to seeing more from this talented actress.
