On Tuesday, a devastating fire broke out at Bangabazar market around 6:10 am which gutted thousands of shops and injured at least 12 people. Ekushey Padak winning organisation Bidyanondo Foundation is working with the assurance of handing over one crore cash to the affected businessmen.
The organisation invited celebrities, business owners, and successful job holders to collect the burnt clothes. The money from this effort will go directly to the business owners who are affected.
Popular singer and actor Tahsan Khan has bought a lungi burnt in the devastating fire at Bangabazar at Tk 1 lakh responding to a call from the organisation. The foundation shared the information on Wednesday through a Facebook post on their page.
The post reads, “Popular artiste Tahsan has bought a burnt lungi for one lakh taka. The money is being delivered to the affected traders. Many celebrities are requesting Bidyanondo, everyone wants to keep some clothes burnt in the fire.” Actress Shabnam Bubly bought burnt clothe in Bangabazar.
After Tahsan and Bubly, Bidya Sinha Mim has come forward to buy burnt clothes to financially help the sellers who have been affected by the recent Bangabazar tragedy. The actress brought a dress for the price of 100 clothes. Bidyanondo posted the news on its official Facebook page.
Popular actress Sabila Nur wanted to stand by the businessmen affected by the fire in Bangabazar. She bought a burnt saree at the price of 1 lakh. Sabila Nur said, “Maybe he has a daughter like me, who has a dream to study at the university. Let him not break that dream, let him not be sad before Eid.”
Actor Ziaul Faruq Apurba bought dilapidated jeans for the benefit of the affected shopkeepers of Bangabazar. The price of burnt jeans is one lakh taka. The burnt cloth will remain the best collection of this Eid. Apurba thought, “How they will celebrate Eid if there is no salary and bonus for the employees? When the business of the whole year takes place, that time, these families are being paralyzed by fire...”
