Jaya’s ‘Peyarar Subash’ selected at Moscow Int’l Film Festival

Bangladeshi film ‘Peyarar Subash’ (The Scent of Sin) has been selected for the 45th Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF), in the competition category. Directed by Nurul Alam Atique the film has been produced jointly by Chorki and Alfa-i.

In the project, Jaya Ahsan plays the lead role while Tariq Anam Khan, and Ahmed Rubel, among others, played as other lead characters. The film is one of the 12 films in the competition category. There are also films from Argentina, Russia, China, France, and Japan in this category.

Jaya Ahsan said, “The director of my first film was Nurul Alam Atique. I always enjoy working with him. It turns out to be a very nice different experience every time I work with him. It was not any different for this project,” said Jaya Ahsan.

“Atique always teaches or shows us to see something new. I think no other Bengali films have been made before with such a plot. Every character in this movie, including mine, is very strong. There is a different language in the whole movie,” she added.

Expressing excitement director Nurul Alam Atique said, “It is definitely good news for all of us. It is an honour to be a part of the main competition at the Moscow International Film Festival. The premiere of the movie is going to be held in Moscow. On this occasion, I like to congratulate all the artistes, including my producer Shahriar Shakil.”

The film will have its international premiere at the film festival, which will take place on April 26. ‘Peyarar Subash’ has been filmed in Sirajganj and Pabna. The film also features Tariq Anam Khan and Ahmed Rubel, among others.

The 45th edition of the Moscow International Film Festival will take place from April 20 to 27.

Earlier, the Bangladeshi film ‘Adim’ was selected for the 44th edition of the Moscow Film Festival. Young filmmaker Juboraj Shamim received the Netpack Jury Award for the film.
