On the occasion of Mother’s Day, Which will be observed on May 14, popular actress Pori Moni-starrer film ‘Maa’ will be released on May 19.
Directed by Aranya Anwar, the news of the release was announced at an event held at City’s Hotel on Saturday. Along with that, the promo and poster for the film were unveiled at the event.
Pori Moni has a lot of emotions in this film because at that time she herself was four months pregnant. But when she signed the film, Pori did not realise that she would also become a mother of a child while doing this film.
Pori said, “When I was shooting for the movie, my pregnancy had just started. I passed three months and stepped into four months of pregnancy. But when I played the role of a mother in the movie, I actually didn’t know that there was a baby in my womb. I did not realise that I would also become a mother of a child while doing this film.”
“I signed two movies after coming out of jail. The films I and Razz did were ‘Gunin’ and ‘Maa’. The shooting of the ‘Gunin’ started first, through which I met the father of Rajya. After Gunin, we did another movie, and that was ‘Maa’. But I really did not know that when I will act as a mother in a film, I will also become a mother of a child. But it happened because our almighty wanted it. And this is a big achievement for a mother”, she added.
Pori also said, “When I stand in front of the camera to shoot for the movie, Rajya may not have come to earth. But since I conceive, I became a mother. And in my entire journey of this film, Rajya was with me. I can tell him that you also worked in this movie. Though he was not seen, he was with me invisibly. I have a lot of emotions to this film.”
Besides Pori, Sariful Razz along with other cast and crew of the films attended the event. The story of the film is set against the background of our liberation war in 1971. The feeling of loss and desperation of a mother, when her 7-month-old baby is declared dead, will be portrayed in the film.
The shooting of the film started in January last year. The film received an uncut clearance from the Bangladesh Film Censor Board (BFCB) in October 2022. The film also stars Azad Abul Kalam, Sazu Khadem, Farzana Chabi, and Shahadat Hossain, among others.
Earlier, Pori Moni again created a buzz among crews of the film as she gave her engagement nose pin as a gift to her month old co-artiste.
