Shilpakala celebrates Bangla New Year in style

To welcome the Bangla New Year 1430, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) organised a celebration programme at its premises on Friday.

The programme began with the chorus rendition of the traditional song ‘Eso He Baishakh Eso Eso’ at the open yard of BSA at 10:00 am. Later, singer Sujit Mostafa rendered Nazrul Sangeet, while Laisa Ahmed Lisa presented Rabindra Sangeet, Sharif Sadhu, and Putul performed Baul Sangeet.

On the other hand, child artistes of BSA performed chorus renditions ‘Dao Dhoirjya, Dao Sourjya’ and ‘Satya Bolo Supothe Cholo’, while Porimol Majumder presented puthi, Surbala Ray presented Loko Sangeet, Puja, and Palash rendered Bhawaiya, and Beauty and Sandipon rendered Baul song at the celebration programme.

Then, promising artistes of BSA Sohanur Rahman Sohan, Rafi Talukdar, Sarder Hirok Raja, Roksana Akter Rupsa, Abida Rahman Setu and Sanjida Mim presented Loko Sangeet.

At the cultural event, artistes from ethnic minority groups performed the dance ‘Vaishnavi’ led by FIFA Chakma , while artistes of BSA performed the group dance ‘Sohoj Manush’, and dance performance ‘Mangalshobha jatra’ led by Tamanna Rahman. Besides, the BSA repertory troupe presented some parts of Jatra ‘Nihsanga Larai’. The programme also featured poetry recitation by Jayanta Chattopadhyay and Rupa Chakrabarti.

After the discussion, the closing ceremony of the 5-day Alpana drawing workshop organised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy was held at the event.

Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky handed over certificates to the participants.

The celebration programme came to an end through the inauguration of a five-day exhibition featuring artworks created through art camp and Alpana art.

The exhibition will remain open to all every day from 10:00 to 8:00 pm until Baishakh 5.
