Actors Chanchal Chowdhury and Meher Afroz Shaon are covering Gazi Mazharul Anwar’s iconic song
‘Dhaka Shohor Aisha Amar’ under the banner of ‘IPDC Amader Gaan Tribute to Gazi Mazharul Anwar’.
The song is scheduled to be released a day before Eid-ul-Fitr.
Speaking on the matter, Chanchal Chowdhury expressed his gratitude towards the IPDC for the opportunity to sing the song written by Gazi Mazharul Anwar.
He said, “This song, written by respected Gazi Mazharul Anwar was not only a matter of singing, but it was also a matter of expression. Of course, the audience will feel the emotions of the past in this song. I tried to sing the song to create a link between the previous generation and the current generation. I tried to develop chemistry with Shaon so the song came out accordingly. I think the audience will get to see the chemistry in this song. Again, a special thanks to Upal and Dithi for the opportunity.”
Meher Afroz Shaon, on the other hand, shared her experience of singing the song with Chanchal Chowdhury. “We sang this song during the shooting of the music video. Chanchal and I sit in the makeup room and plan that we will also dance a bit to this song. I think this might be a new thing to watch for the audience. We have a lot of fun while doing the project. Since my childhood, I hummed this song, written by respected Gazi Mazharul Anwar and used to sing it in family gatherings. But this is the first time I covered it publicly. I am optimistic about the new song,” said Shaon.
The new version of the song has been composed by Emon Saha.
Upal Anwar and Dithi Anwar, the son and daughter of the late Gazi Mazharul Anwar, expressed their special gratitude to the IPDC for taking up such an initiative.
The song ‘Dhaka Shohor Aisha Amar’ was originally composed by Satya Saha, while Khondokar Faruk Ahmed and Shammi Akhtar lent their voices to the film ‘Oshikkhito’ (1978).
Earlier in February, IPDC Amader Gaan announced the re-composition and release of eight songs by the late award-winning lyricist Gazi Mazharul Anwar on the occasion of his 80th birthday celebration during a programme.
