41st Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan begins today

A three-day ‘Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan’, organised by Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad, will begin today at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital. Noted artist Mustafa Monwar will inaugurate the event in the evening today.

At the 41st edition of the Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan, cultural personality Syed Hasan Imam and Tagore enthusiast and educationist Dr ABM Nurul Anwar will be honoured with the Rabindra award.

Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad general secretary Sharmila Banerjee made the announcement at a press conference held at the Ramesh Chandra Dutt Auditorium of Chhayanaut Sanskriti Bhaban in Dhanmondi on Tuesday. Presided over by the organisation’s vice-president Sarwar Ali, Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad vice-presidents Bulbul Islam, Lily Islam, Laisa Ahmad Lisa, and the Dhaka Mahanagar Committee president Rupa Ahmed were present at the press conference.

The three-day event will feature seminar, paper presentation, dance, and solo and chorus rendition. Around 500 artistes, and cultural activities from 72 Parishad of Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan will take part during the three-day event.

On the opening day, a lyrical-drama ‘An Amrita Bani’ written by Mahua Manjari Sunanda and Deepra Nishant will be presented at 5:30 pm. Presented by Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad, the drama has been directed by Sudeshna Swayamprabha.

The second day of the Sammelan will feature a seminar. Later cultural personality Asaduzzaman Noor will participate in ‘Rabirshmir Subochone’. At 8:30 pm,

On this day at 8:30, music by Laisa Ahmad Lisa and dance performance ‘Sobar Upor Manush Satya’ directed by Sharmila Bandopadhyay will be held. The last day of the event will feature a delegate conference and a dance performance ‘Biday Obhisaap’ by Tamanna Rahman.

Bangladeshi author Anupam Sen will be present as chief guest at the closing ceremony on Saturday, while Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad president Sanjida Khatun will deliver the closing speech.
