Theatre troupe Theatre is set to stage the second show of their latest production “Love Letters” today, with Ramendu Mazumder and Ferdousi Mazumder set to star.
The show will start at 7pm at the Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of the Bangladesh Mahila Samity.
Written by renowned playwright AR Gurney, the play is translated by Prof Abdus Salim. Tropa Mazumdar directed it.
The play has been adapted in many languages in many countries. However, the context of Bangladesh’s 1971 Liberation War has been added to the Bengali adaptation.
“Love Letters” revolves around two characters, Ananta Shahed Chowdhury and Maisha Islam, who are revealed through letters written to each other. The drama delves into the major stages of their lives — college, university and career— and finally reaches the level of self-realisation.
Ananta and Maisha’s deep friendship and love for each other even during and after the Liberation War would be visualised in the play through the letters.
According to the director, the latest production has been dedicated to the late prominent cultural figure Aly Zaker. Cast members also include Robin Basak and Najmun Nahar Naju.
The play is the 48th production of Theatre. Tickets are available at Tk 1,000, Tk 500, Tk 300, and Tk 200 based on the seating arrangements.
