‘Birkonna Pritilata’ screened on Pritilata’s birth anniversary

Commemorate the 112th birth anniversary of Pritilata Waddedar, the first woman martyr who sacrificed herself in the anti-British freedom struggle, a discussion was held on Friday.

There was a screening of the film ‘Birkonna Pritilata’ directed by Pradeep Ghosh at the event.

The event took place at the auditorium of Daffodil University in the capital.

Dr Md Sajjad Hossain, member of the Bangladesh University Grant Commission, Professor Dr Golam Samdani Fakir, vice-chancellor of Green University, actress Nusrat Imroz Tisha, Kamruzzaman Tapu, and filmmaker Pradeep Ghosh attended the event.

Dr Md Sajjad Hossain highlighted the bravery and courage of Pritilata, who fought against the imperialist British tyrants at the age of 21.

Golam Samdani Fakir emphasised the importance of sharing the life struggle of great revolutionaries like Pritilata with future generations.

“We want to tell our generation the life struggle of these great revolutionaries so that the future generation can realise the significance they made of the freedom of the motherland,” said Golam Samdani Fakir.

Director Pradeep Ghosh spoke about his film, ‘Birkonna Pritilata’, which is based on Selina Hossain’s novel and has been produced with a grant from the government. He said he felt proud at the screening of the film on the day and thanked the audience for watching the movie.

The discussion aimed to honour the sacrifice of Pritilata and inspire future generations to value the freedom of their motherland.
