Ekushey Padak award-winning actress Dilara Zaman is acting regularly even at the age of 81. A movie starring her was also released a few days ago. Her performance in the movie was well-received by the audience. Dilara Zaman is such an elite actress, in dramas and movies who is impeccable as a mother. That’s why the makers still try to work with Dilara Zaman if the character of the mother is suitable in the story. Dilara Zaman’s last released movie was MM Rahim’s ‘Omar Faruker Maa’. She acted in the central role of the story.

Acting as a mother in Bangladeshi dramas and movies, she is respected as a mother by everyone here. Viewers also respect Dilara Zaman like their own mother. Regarding this Dilara Zaman said, “I am still acting from my heart with the love of the audience. The respect I get from people along the way makes me very emotional. If I had not acted I might not receive people’s love and respect.”

Dilara Zaman performed her first play at school in ‘Mamlar Phol’ by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1957. In 1966, Nazmul Alam wrote and Atiqul Haque Chowdhury produced her first play on radio.

Under the direction of Humayun Ahmed, she acted for the first time in 1984 in the drama ‘Diner Sheshe’. After that, she also acted in Humayun Ahmed’s plays ‘Ei Shob Din Ratri’ and ‘Ayomoy’.

Her notable films are ‘Aguner Poroshmoni’, ‘Chandrokotha’, ‘Meghla Akash’, ‘Monpura’, ‘Chondrogrohon’, ‘Altabanu’, ‘Postmaster 71’, ‘Mission Extreme’, ‘Chironjeeb Mujib’ and othrs.

Many more of Dilara’s movies are waiting for release including ‘Maniker Lal Kakra’ directed by Afzal Hossain, Chayanika Chowdhury’s ‘Prohelika’, Shyam Benegal’s biopic ‘Mujib’, and Zahid Hossain’s ‘Subarnabhumi’.

In 1992, Dilara Zaman was awarded the Ekushey Padak. She was awarded the National Film Award for her performance in the film ‘Chandragrohon’ directed by Murad Parvez.

Dilara Zaman was born on June 19, 1943. Dilara Zaman’s writing was first published on Kochi Kachar Ashor page of ‘Ittefaq’ in 1956. It was a small eight-line poem. She was very happy to see her name ‘Dilara Ahmed Lily’ in print. Since then, she has had a habit of writing.

In 1963, when she studied at Dhaka University, she performed on the open stage of Bangla Academy at the annual conference of the East Pakistan Student’s Union. In the same year, she acted in Daksu’s play ‘Mayabi Prahar’ written by Alauddin Al Azad. In it, she played the role of Abdullah Al Mamun’s wife.
