Renowned Bangladeshi singer Runa Laila captivated the audience with her mesmerising performance at an annual event organised by an Indian airline on May 14. The event was held at Radisson in the capital. The performance marked her return to the stage after a hiatus of two years. She last performed in Dhaka when the Indian Prime Minister visited Bangladesh, during which she had not been seen performing in any stage show.
The show commenced with Runa Laila’s rendition of the popular song ‘Jokhon Thambe Kolahol’ which captivated the audience from the start. In response to the audience’s requests, Runa Laila performed several Arabic songs, leaving the listeners enchanted. Following that, she performed the song ‘Bondhu Tin Din Tor Barite Gelam’ as requested by the audience, prompting many to join her on stage and engage in dance and song, further enhancing the enjoyment of the performance.
Upon the audience’s request, she concluded her performance with the song ‘Sadher Lau Banailo More Boiragi’, which created an electrifying atmosphere, leaving no one seated in their chairs. The entire hall resonated with immense joy and appreciation as the audience thoroughly enjoyed Runa Laila’s performance. She also performed ‘O Mera Babu Chail Chabila’, ‘Baat Karni Mujhe Mushkil’, ‘Ranjish Hi Sahi’, and others.
After the final song, Runa Laila expressed her gratitude, stating, “It has been a long time since I performed on a stage, and I have immensely enjoyed singing here. Truly, a performer loves singing on stage more than anything else. I am deeply thankful to the organisers who have created such an incredible environment for me to showcase my songs. Everyone has shown tremendous appreciation for my performance, and many have expressed their heartfelt words of admiration. Even the organisers called me the next day to express their gratitude. I hope this journey with them continues uninterrupted in the future.”
It is worth mentioning that the day before, on May 13, Runa Laila attended a Mother’s Day programme as chief guest organised by Madiha Marshia Advertising with the support of Ali-Rupa Foundation.
