Dithi to celebrate 30 years of musical career

Dithi Anwar, the daughter of Ekushey Padak and Independence Day Award-winning lyricist, producer, director, and composer Gazi Mazharul Anwar, is going to celebrate thirty years of her musical career through a musical programme.

Organised by ‘Amra Suryamukhi’ established in 1975, the celebration programme will be held today at 6 pm at the Kabi Sufia Kamal Auditorium of the National Museum, Shahbag in the capital.

President of the Bangladesh National Museum Trustee Board and former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor AMS Arifin Siddique will inaugurate the event while living legendary musician Syed Abdul Hadi will be present as the chief guest. Shafiqul Islam Salim, executive director of ‘Amra Suryamukhi’ will deliver the welcome speech at the event.

The programme will also be attended by Dithi’s mother Zohra Gazi, singer Shahidullah Farazi, managing director of Universal Medical College Dr Ashish Kumar Chakraborty, renowned fashion designer Biplap Saha, and many others.

Regarding her about thirty years of music career Dithi Anwar said, “At the beginning, I am thankful to Almighty Allah that He has kept me healthy and well. My sincere thanks to Salim uncle for turning my thirty years of musical journey into a festival. If my father were alive, undoubtedly, he will be happy today. But I believe Abbu is in everyone’s heart and soul through his songs. Today I will sing some old and new songs written by my father. Apu Aman and Yousuf will sing along with me in this programme. I hope today’s event will be enjoyable and memorable.”

Dithi started singing at the age of eight. Her father bought a harmonium on the occasion of her birthday at that age. In the beginning, she took training in music from Ustad Yasin Hossain Khan. She first played back in the movie ‘Ulka’.

Actress Mousumi lip-syncing in her playback song. Palash was her first duet partner. Dithi has released four solo albums so far. She has played back in more than 60 movies.

Dithi’s father Gazi Mazharul Anwar wrote 17 original songs ‘Dithir Khata’ for Dithi. Four songs are done from there.
