Cultural arena set to celebrate Nazrul’s birth anniv today

The 124th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam will be celebrated today in a befitting manner across the country. The government has taken a massive programme to mark the birth anniversary of Nazrul at the national level.

This year, the main programme of Nazrul’s birth anniversary celebration will be held a Trishal Upazila in Mymensingh. The main theme of this year’s celebration is ‘Agnibeenar Shatabarsha: Bangabandhur Chetonay Shanitarup’. Cultural Ministry and District Administration of Mymensingh have jointly organised the three-day event.

The inaugural ceremony of the event will be held today at 3pm in Mymenshing, where Matia Chowdhury, a presidium member of the ruling Awami League will be present as chief guest.

The programme will also be attended by State Minister for Housing and Public Works Md. Sharif Ahmed, Gazipur-4 MP Simeen Hussain Rimi, Member of Parliament Mymensingh-7 Mohammad Hafez Ruhul Amin Madani, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) of mymensingh Range Devdas Bhattacharya, Member of Parliament Mymensingh-3 Nazim Uddin Ahmed and others.

Presided over by State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, Khilkhil Kazi granddaughter of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam will be present as discussant, while Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University Vice-Chancellor Prof Soumitra Shekhar Dey will deliver commemorative speech and Secretary of Cultural affairs Ministry Khalil Ahmed will deliver welcome speech.

To mark the occasion, Chhayanaut will hold a two-day cultural programme at its premises on May 25 and 26 featuring solo rendition, chorus and recitation. The programme will begin at 7:00pm today.

On the occasion of 124th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has organised a cultural programme today at its National Theatre Hall, Segun Bagicha in the capital. The programme will feature songs, poetry recitation and dance performance, written by Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Besides, Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, Channel i and all other mass media will broadcast the national level programmes and other programmes.
