Renowned Dhallywood actress Rozina is set to mesmerise the audience once again, but this time from behind the camera for the first time.

With post-production works and final preparations finished, Rozina’s debut film as a director, “Phire Dekha,” will hit the theatres across the country on June 16.

Rozina, whose real name is Rawshan Ara Ranu, herself has written the story, screenplay and dialogues with assistance from Mujtaba Saud. The cast of the film, produced with government funding, includes Rozina, Ilias Kanchan, Nirob, Sproshia and many others.

Sharing the experience of making her first film, Rozina said, “I have previously directed stage plays and telefilms. However, making a film is a whole different challenge. Creating a story on a large canvas like a cinema is much more difficult.

“I am grateful to the whole cast and crew. I was able to bring this film to life because of their tremendous support.”

She said, “Moreover, this film revolves around the story of the 1971 Liberation War, which I witnessed first-hand. The story of the struggle for independence, seen through my own eyes, has now come to life in ‘Phire Dekha’.”

“The younger generation of our nation should watch this film and learn how this country achieved independence through unimaginable sacrifices and struggles,” she added.

Before “Phire Dekha,” Rozina’s company Rozina Films had produced the films “Jibondhara” and “Dolna.”

“Dolna,” directed by Shibli Shadik, is still highly cherished by the audience. This film’s song “Tumi Amar Koto Chena” — written by Moniruzzaman Monir, composed by Alam Khan and performed by Sabina Yasmin and Andrew Kishore — remains extremely popular.
