Swapnadal to stage ‘Helen Keller’ today

Theatre troupe Swapnadal will stage its mono-drama ‘Helen Keller’ today at the Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) at 7:00pm.

Written by Apurba Kumar Kundu and directed by Zahid Repon, ‘Helen Keller’ is the 17th production of Swapnadal. The cast is Juana Sobnom, while the production manager is Shakhawat Shamol.

The drama depicts the life, works, dreams, struggles, and philosophy of the legend and Wonder of the World Helen Keller. She was a deaf-dumb-blind person, but able to overcome all the obstacles through her extreme self-confidence and also the extraordinary support of her teacher Anne Sullivan.

Hellen Keller was highly influenced by the philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore and also by the thoughts of Charlie Chaplin, Mark Twain, John F Kennedy, and Albert Einstein.

In the drama ‘Hellen Keller’ when she expresses gratitude to her teacher, the influences of those great masters on her become alive.

‘Helen Keller’ also speaks about her expectations of women’s empowerment and humanism, as well as her strong stand against racism, war, destruction, and the abuse of atomic weapons. Besides that, the experience of satisfaction and dissatisfaction in her personal life is also depicted in ‘Helen Keller’.

She also expresses her own philosophy, which is to be able to dedicate someone to the welfare of humans despite all obstacles or struggles, which is called true humanity. Finally, this philosophy becomes the prime lesson of the drama ‘Helen Keller’.
