10-day long cultural festival underway at Shilpakala

With the aim to display our rich Bangladeshi heritage, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) has organised a 10-day long cultural festival at the academy’s National Music and dance auditorium. The festival was inaugurated on Thursday.

The programme has begun with the performance of Pancha Kabir Gaan (songs of five poets-- Rabindranath, Nazrul, Rajnikant, Atul Prasad, and DL Roy) on Thursday.

Nazrul expert music artists Khairul Anam Shakil and Anima Roy spoke in a short discussion at the beginning of the programme. They praised the initiative of Shilpakala Academy.

Later, Director General of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky delivered a short speech. He said, “Shilpakala Academy has enrolled more than 1 thousand artists. We are working to develop art and artists so that we can spread our culture internationally”.

He also said that newcomers should be informed about this rich culture of thousands of years. Pancha Kabi is the wealth of the country. This Pancha Kabi will add a lot of height to reach aesthetic culture.”

“Today, social media is creating a scarcity of taste, where expression has no control, no art. One who is using it as he can only make a transition from there to art culture”, he added.

In the cultural part, Susmita Das rendered ‘Amar Mukti Aloy Aloy’, while Anima Ray rendered ‘Bodhua Nid Nahi Akhi Pate’, and Shabari Majumder rendered ‘Ei Kathati Mone Rekho’.

Later, dance artists Anindita Khan, Priyanka Sarker, SaifulIslam Saki, and S m Hasan Ishtiaque performed solo dances at the event.

Khairul Anam Shakil took the stage with the rendition of Nazrul Sangeet. Later, singers Sanjay Kabiraj, Manisha Sarker, Tamalika Halder, Motiur Rahman, Kabari Das, and Debjani Das rendered music at the event.

At the event, Sirajur Rahman recited Rabindranath Tagore’s ‘Hotat Dekha’, while Sifat Ara Bhuiyan recited Kabi Kazi Nazrul’s ‘Kuli Majur’.

The 10-day programme will feature patriotic songs, Baul songs, Film songs, Palagaan, Bhawaiya songs, and others.
