Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), under the stewardship of its theater and film department, arranged a three-day event from June 11th to June 13th to pay homage to the legendary figures of Bangladesh’s film, drama, and theater industry. Titled ‘Smriti Swatta Bhabisshat’, the event aimed to commemorate and celebrate the invaluable contributions of these esteemed luminaries.

The ceremonious inauguration took place on Sunday evening in the seminar room of the National Theater, with Liaquat Ali Lucky, the Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, presiding over the grand affair. The event commenced with a thought-provoking discussion dedicated to the late renowned film director Tareque Masud.

The opening event featured talks by acclaimed speakers Morshedul Islam and Moinuddin Khaled, who shared their profound insights and reflections on Tareque Masud’s impactful career. Additionally, a noteworthy article was presented by Prasun Rahman, adding an enriching layer to the commemorative proceedings.

In his poignant opening speech, Director General Liaquat Ali Lucky said, “We are deeply affected by the untimely death of filmmaker Tareque Masud. We have lost many good people including Mishuk Munier in a road accident which is an irreparable loss for this industry.”

Lucky further highlighted the significance of comprehending the profound content and underlying meaning prevalent in Tareque Masud’s films, drawing from personal conversations he had with the director regarding the acclaimed film ‘Matir Moina’. The speakers eloquently emphasized that Tareque Masud’s cinematic works serve as an invaluable guide for the present generation, offering invaluable insights into film thinking and philosophy.

As a testament to Tareque Masud’s extraordinary directorial prowess, the event concluded with a screening of his acclaimed film ‘Runway’, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in his artistic brilliance and enduring legacy.
