Dhaka District Administration grants a house to Sujata

The Dhaka district administration stands by the silver screen actress Sujata. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman handed over a deed to a house (assigned property) along with a plot of land in Wari Mouza of the capital on Tuesday.

Sujata is the veteran actress of Dhallywood. This ‘Roopban’ famed actress is also a director and producer. She also made a name for herself as a writer. Due to old age, she is not regular in anything. It is known that the actress was facing a severe financial crisis at a late age. She lives in a rented house in the Banasree area.

She applied to the Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka regarding a permanent residence. The matter came to the notice of Dhaka Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman. He then requested his officials to find a suitable house for Sujata’s residence. Under his guidance, the Dhaka District Commissioner finally rescued property No. 43, 43/2, and 43/3 of Lalchan Mokim Lane in Wari from the illegal inhabitants.

Based on Sujata’s application and in Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman’s direction, the ownership of the house (assigned property) along with a plot of land in Wari Mouza was handed over to Sujata on Tuesday. At that time Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Md. Shibli Sadiq, district administration officials, actress Sujata and journalists were present.

Actress Sujata expressed her heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the Dhaka district administration in her emotional speech. She states, “Artists like us are alive because of the honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. I have no words to express my gratitude to her. And the cooperation of the Deputy Commissioner will also be remembered forever.”

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman said, “Dhaka district administration is always working to ensure the permanent residence of talented and knowledgeable people who are financially poor. Apart from this, the recovered private land or assigned property will be allotted to members of social, cultural, sports, and public welfare-oriented organisations. We are trying to stand by all of them on the instructions of the Prime Minister.”

Sujata as a heroine came to the limelight by playing the titular role in the film ‘Rupban’ in 1965. The film was considered to be a milestone in the country’s film industry.

After that, she acted in numerous films. She also directed a film titled ‘Arpan’. Besides, she contributed to the film industry as a producer. She produced a number of notable films like ‘Chena Ochena’, ‘Takar Khela’, ‘Protinidhi’, ‘Arpan’, ‘Rupbaner Rupkotha’, ‘Bodla’, ‘Rong Berong’ and ‘Ekhane Akash Nil’, among others.
