Swastika accuses ‘Shibpur’ producer of sexual harassment

In a shocking revelation, acclaimed actress Swastika Mukherjee has come forward with allegations of receiving threatening emails from co-producer Sandeep Sarkar and his associates associated with the upcoming Bengali movie ‘Shibpur.’

The actress claims that she was subjected to harassment and intimidation, including the threat of her photos being manipulated and distributed on pornographic websites. Disturbed by these disturbing developments, Mukherjee has lodged a complaint of sexual harassment at Kolkata’s Golf Green Police Station, according to Anandabazar.

According to reports, the actress has also shared scanned copies of the threatening emails with the Eastern India Motion Films Association. She clarified that she had no personal acquaintance with the producer during the filming of ‘Shibpur,’ emphasizing the professional nature of their relationship.

It is worth noting that Mukherjee took this course of action following the advice of the movie’s director, Arindam Bhattacharya, despite the co-legal producer’s denial of any involvement in such activities.

Sandeep Sarkar had extended an invitation to Swastika to work with the team, emphasizing his American citizenship. Furthermore, he allegedly threatened to contact the US Consulate to ensure that the actress would never be granted another US visa.

The distressing email received by Mukherjee prompted her to withdraw from all movie promotion events, including her recent film ‘Qala.’ Additionally, she disclosed that she had received an email from Sarkar’s acquaintance, Ravish Sharma, claiming to be a skilled hacker who could manipulate and distribute the actress’ images to explicit websites.

Swastika Mukherjee provided an explanation for her delayed disclosure of the incident, stating, “If I wanted, I would have talked to the media about it then. I kept quiet because I wanted the release of ‘Shibpur’ to proceed smoothly. However, it seems that the ordeal is far from over. Everyone involved can attest to the fact that I fulfilled my professional responsibilities diligently during the shoot. I was punctual and put in my best efforts to portray the character truthfully. This person, Sandeep Sarkar, is now claiming that I extorted money, but I received only what was stipulated in the contract, not a penny more.”
