Today (August 16) is the birth anniversary of Bangladeshi rock icon Ayub Bachchu. Marking the day his wife Ferdous Akhter Chandana will recall the memories of Ayub Bacchu through a talk show titled ‘Remembering Ayub Bachchu’. Hosted by popular Bangladeshi music composer and anchor Tanvir Tareq, the first episode of the Kolahol Communication series will be available on Tanvir Tareq’s official Facebook page and YouTube Channel tonight at 10pm. The program will also be available on a Bangladeshi music app named Independent.
Chandana will share her memories of Ayub Bachchu, their married life and her initiative to preserve his memories. The guitarist of AB’s band LRB, Abdullah Al Masud, will also be present at the show.
Chandana and Masud announced the initiative to commemorate the artist and create a foundation in his name.
Ayub Bachchu was born in August 16, 1962 in Patiya, Chittagong. The legendary rock star guitarist, composer, singer and songwriter was the founder of the renowned Bangladeshi rock band LRB and earned success as the lead singer and the lead guitarist of the band.
He is considered one of the greatest singers of all time in Bangladesh. AB was also one of the pioneers of Bangladeshi Pop music.
Bachchu released several bestselling-albums with LRB, and as a solo performer.
In October 2018, Bachchu died of cardiac failure in his own residence in Dhaka, six years after suffering from a lung ailment. He gave his last performance in Rangpur City just two days before his death. He was buried in Chaitanya Goli in Chittagong, beside his mother’s grave.
