BTV Chattogram launches 24/7 streaming

The Chattogram Centre of state-run Bangladesh Television is celebrating 25 years of its service today with a big announcement for the viewers.

Beginning from today, television viewers will be able to watch the Chattogram BTV 24 hours a day as the station is officially launching 24/7 broadcasting marking its Silver Jubilee.

The channel will air a wide variety of day-long programmes to celebrate the occasion.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud will inaugurate the Silver Jubilee celebration and open the 24/7 broadcasting of Chattogram. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, as the chief guest, is expected to deliver her speech via video message, on the occasion.

As part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations, Chattogram BTV will also organise a procession at 10:00am and a discussion along with cultural events in the afternoon.

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing, Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Chairman Nikhil Kumar Chakma, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Md Mokbul Hossain and BTV Director General Sohrab Hossain are among the guests.

The Chattogram centre of BTV started broadcasting on December 19 in 1996 with one and a half hours’ daily programmes. Later, on 31 December 31, 2016, the duration of daily broadcasting was increased to six hours.

Afterwards, the TV station started broadcasting nine hours every day from April 13, 2019, and 12 hours every day from January 26, 2020. The duration of daily broadcasting was later increased to 18 hours on a trial basis from January 10 this year.
