Coke Studio Bangla began its journey with the song ‘Nasek Nasek’, a Hajong fusion song, on the month of International Mother Language Day.
The song was released on their YouTube channel on Wednesday.
According to the organizer Coca-Cola Bangladesh, the song ‘Nasek Nasek’ reflects the spirit of the thirteen festivals in the twelve months of Bangla. The song has been released in the language month showing respect for Hajong language as well as the languages of all indigenous peoples in the country.
Besides, the country’s famous folk song ‘Dol Dol Duluni’ has also been included in it. The two were combined to create the new fusion. The Hajong language part of the song ‘Nasek Nasek’ is sung by Animes Roy while the ‘Dol Dol Duluni’ part is sung by Pantho Kanai.
‘Nasek’ is a Hajong language word which means ‘dance’. Animes Roy wrote the song in his mother tongue - Hajong. The legendary folk ballad ‘Dol Dol Doloni’ written by Abdul Latif and voiced by Pantho Kanai, was originally sung by folk legend Abdul Alim.
Adit Rahman arranged the music while Shayan Chowdhury Arnab produced it.
The song is getting praised in social media platforms. However, there are criticisms too as many are questioning why a programme titled “Bangla” started with a Hajong song.
Earlier this month, Coke Studio Bangla released their first season theme song ‘Ekla Cholo Re’ in a glittering event where Samina Chowdhury, Momtaz, Bappa, Kana, Mizan, Arnab, Masha Islam, Animes Roy and many others took part.
