Drik announces winners of third season

Drik Picture Library announced the winners of the 2023 Bangladesh Press Photo Competition on their official Facebook page on April 5. This is the third season of the competition, which was held to recognise the talents and contributions of Bangladeshi photojournalists.

With over 1500 submissions, a panel of judges consisting of professional photographers and media personalities selected seven photographs from various categories.

Abdul Goni from Daily Ittefaq won the Best Photograph of the Year 2022, while Md Shamsul Haque Suza from Daily Global Nation won under the Arts, Culture, and Sports Category. The winner of the Politics Category was Mamun Hossain from Daily Kajir Bazar, and the Public Journalism Category winner was Sardar Mohammad Rafiul Islam from Bangladesh Photographic Society.

In addition, there were three special award winners: Special Mention Award winner Abu Sufian Jewell from UNB, Special Honours Award winner Quddus Alam from Focus Bangla, and Special Merit Award Winner Md Rafayet Haque Khan.

The competition’s judges were Abir Abdullah, Geeti Ara Nasreen, Rashed Zaman, Tanvi Mishra, and Shahidul Alam. An exhibition plan has been accepted in Dhaka this year with the selected pictures, which will showcase the selected photographs, as well as 31 selected photographs. The exhibition will also be organised virtually to reach a larger audience.

The winner of the Best Photograph of the Year 2022 award Abdul Goni, will receive Tk 1,00,000. Each category winner will receive Tk 50,000, and each special award winner will receive Tk 10,000. All winners will also receive a memento, certificate, and edition of the yearbook.
