On the occasion of the death anniversary of Bangladesh’s National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, Bangladesh Television (BTV) will produce a special drama titled ‘Boner Papiya.’ The play is adapted from the short story of the same name written by the poet. The popular short story has been dramatized and written for the stage by veteran
actor Khairul Alam Sabuj. Ramla, the central character of this play will be played by acclaimed Bangladeshi actor Farhana Mili.
Earlier, Suraiya Huda Ratri, Golam Farida Chanda, Sanjida Preeti and many others have acted in this role.
The shooting of the drama will start on August 10. The actress said that she is now taking necessary preparations to play the role of Ramla.
The story of the drama revolves around Mr Mitra who is the Deputy Magistrate of Faridpur and got married to Ramla. It has been a year since he got married to Ramla, but he noticed that he almost knows nothing about her. Ramla is an arrogant and self-centred girl who loves to live in her own mind and her own world. Mr Mitra is afraid of his wife Ramla as she brought a lot of money and property when she came to her in-laws’ house.
Even the job he does is given by Ramla’s father. Though afraid of his wife, he often gets annoyed at her. The story moves on.
Regarding the drama, Mili said, “I have received the script of the drama ‘Baner Papiya’ dramatized by Khairul Alam Sabuj Uncle. The dialogues are beautiful and yet difficult. I am preparing very well to portray myself properly as Ramla. To be honest, preparation for playing such a role is very important.
“Earlier several talented actresses of our country have acted in this role, so in that case, it can also be called a challenge for me.”
After a long hiatus, Mili returned from the USA and acted in several local theatrical plays including ‘Tapaswi O Tarangini’ and ‘Ilish’ directed by Sohail Rana Emon.
