Acclaimed filmmaker Giasuddin Selim has signed actors Shariful Razz and Nusraat Faria for his upcoming feature film ‘Gunnin’. The film will be made based on a short story of the same title by noted writer Hasan Aziul Haque. Giasuddin Selim confirmed the news to The Business Post on Sunday.
Faria took to her verified Facebook page Saturday night to share a photo with the director showing off the signing document.
Besides, Iresh Zaker, Mostofa Monwar, Azad Abul Kalam also have been roped in for the film. Nayla Azad Nupur, Dilara Zaman and Shilpi Sarker are also expected to join the cast of ‘Gunnin’.
The screenplay and dialogue of ‘Gunnin’ are also written by director Selim himself.
The film will depict around a 50-year cycle of events where Nusraat Faria will portray the character Rabeya, a woman in then conservative Muslim society.
‘Gunnin’ is scheduled to go on floors in October. The film is slated for an OTT release but its makers said that they can also go for theatrical release prior to going digitally if the coronavirus situation allows.
On the other hand, release of Selim’s multicast film ‘Paap Punno’ is delayed by the ongoing pandemic which was earlier scheduled to release in October last year and afterwards by mid-2021. Chanchal Chowdhury, Siam Ahmed, Mamunur Rashid, Afsana Mimi and Farzana Chumki are featured in the film.
Nusraat Faria has currently been involved in films like Shyam Benegal-directed ‘Bangabandhu’, biopic of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, where she plays the role of Sheikh Hasina, and ‘Bibaho Obhijaan 2’ with Tollywood’s Ankush Hazra.
