First Look of Chanchal from film ‘Padatik’

Popular actor Chanchal Chowdhury, is going to play the role of Mrinal Sen in an upcoming biopic on the celebrated filmmaker. Srijit Mukherji, who will direct the film, had announced the main casting on social media on the fourth death anniversary of Mrinal Sen on December 30.

Chanchal’s look in the film was revealed on Friday. Film production and distribution house ‘Friends Communication’, who will produce the film ‘Padatik’, has revealed the first look of the film’s characters. Three photos showed how Mrinal Sen and Chanchal looked alike at different ages. Two of the photos were of youth and middle age, the other of old age.

The make-up is by Somnath Kundu, who has been an integral part of Srijit’s projects.

Earlier Srijit said the decision to cast Chanchal as Mrinal Sen was based on two factors--they share similarities in their facial features. Recently, Amitabh Bachchan had wished Srijit and Chanchal for Padatik on social media.

Manami Ghosh will play the role of Mrinal Sen’s wife Geeta Sen in the film. Her look has also come on the internet.
