Shariful Razz rose to fame as a runway model before making his cinematic debut with Redoan Rony’s coming-of-age movie ‘Ice Cream’ in 2016. He has appeared in a number of television commercials before that. The model-turned-actor has been experiencing a lot of response since the release of his web film ‘Networker Baire’ in August. Meanwhile, Razz was roped in for a new film titled ‘Gunnin’. In a candid conversation with The Business Post’s Antara Raisa, Razz has shared his experience working on Mizanur Rahman Aryan’s ‘Networker Baire’ and his career.
The Business Post: It has been more than a month since you were hurt in the Gulshan car crash. How are you doing now?
Razz: I am doing well now. Currently I am in my home and taking some rest.
TBP: How are you feeling after getting the praises from the audience for ‘Networker Baire’?
Razz: I am very happy and grateful for all the love that the audience has showered on me. I am still getting positive response for the web film.
TBP: Share a good memory or special incident from the sets of ‘Networker Baire’.
Razz: There are many good memories with the team. In fact, we became friends while shooting for the web film. We had to be in front the camera for around 80 hours continuously to complete the film in a very short span of time, that’s why we bonded so well. Usually, in Bangladesh, we don’t see many films centered on friendship. That’s why I was interested in ‘Network er Baire’ to celebrate the beautiful essence of friendship.
TBP: So, who was your most intimate friend on the sets?
Razz: I was very close with actor Khairul Bashar. He was my roommate. Interestingly, after the accident his cabin was also next to mine. I was very upset mentally that time. Bashar cheered me up. We have a good understanding with each other.
TBP: How did you feel working under the direction of Aryan?
Razz: ‘Networker Baire’ was my first project with director Aryan. It felt very good to collaborate with him. Sometimes we did have some differences in opinions, but in the end we worked together as a team. He was very cooperative.
TBP: You started your career as a ramp model. Now you are working in films and OTT projects. What attracts you more?
Razz: As I am away from modelling for a long time, now I want to do acting more. I feel happy when I get to play any interesting character or get a good story.
TBP: When did you first realise that you want to be an actor?
Razz: When I appeared in my debut film ‘Ice Cream’ directed by Redoan Rony. When working on the film, I realised that I love acting and want to continue work in big screen. I took a break from modelling after ‘Ice Cream’. So I would say Redoan Rony has a great role in this regard. Another reason I stepped into acting is that my beloved mentor Azra Mahmood motivated me to do so.
TBP: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
Razz: I don’t know the future yet. But I want to work regularly. I want audience’s love and support so that I can keep up the good work. I just want to be consistent with my work.
