One of the popular singers in Bangladesh, Sumona Haque, who had dominated the country’s advertisement arena by lending her voice to jingles, has isolated herself totally from the musical arena.

The singer now passes her time at home and leads a quiet life.

At the peak of her music career, Sumona Haque began isolating herself from everything. No new album or singles was released after 2015.

Sumona now prefers a ‘happy and prosperous life’ and also performed hajj recently.

“I’m doing great by the grace of Allah. Please pray for me and my family so that we can have a happy and prosperous life,” said Sumona.

Her voice was most common in jingles for Bangladeshi advertisements in the 1990s and many catchy jingles became very popular among people for her voice which earned her the title ‘Jingle Queen’.

The jingle for an advertisement of Shundori print sari featured by Mausumi, ‘Priyo Priyo Priyo-Sundari Print Sari’ still reminds of her voice. Also, Meril’s ‘Sona Jadu Monire’, ‘Anubhabe Tumi Amar’, ‘Aha Ha Pakija’, ‘Porechhi Kopale Tip Chokhe Kajal’, ‘Rinik Jhinik Khushir Jhilik Chharalo Fresh Jell’, ‘Range Range Karukaje, Path Chawa Bhiru Laje’, ‘Tumi Achho Tai Pratidin Purnata Pai’, Sumona’s melodious voice still fascinates the viewers. Many still hear her voice in old advertisements on YouTube.

In her music career, Sumona’s first solo album ‘Mayabi E Raat’ was released in 1988. After a pause of 12 years her second album ‘Majhe Kichu Bachhar Gelo’, came out in 2000. Then she came back in 2008 with an album titled, ‘Tumi Rabe Nirabe’ and in 2015 with ‘Kichhu Smriti Kichhu Bedona’.
