Kabir Suman to tour Dhaka after 13 years

Renowned Indian musician Kabir Suman is coming to perform in Dhaka after 13 years. This year marks 30 years since the release of his famous album ‘Tomake Chai.’ On this occasion, he will be performing at several events in the second week of October in Dhaka. An organisation called Peephole, which is organising these events with Suman, confirmed the news to the press on Tuesday.

Peephole executive Ishtiaque Khan said, “He will sing in three separate events on October 15, 18 and 21 at the National Museum auditorium of Shahbagh in the capital. On October 15 and 21, he will be singing his modern Bangla tracks. And the October 18 programme has been kept for Bangla Khayal music. Kabir Suman has been working on Bangla Khayal for several years now. He preferred that a separate Khayal programme is kept in his schedule.”

Ishtiaque also clarified that Peephole is not a professional event management organisation and Suman agreed to this tour due to the personal relationship between them. He also said the ticket prices and details of the event will be released after the secure sponsors for the tour.

Fuad Bin Omar, another stakeholder of Peephole, told the press that they have already applied for permission from the government for the events and tickets will be released once the permission is granted.

The organisers have also confirmed the entire tour will be aired live on different social media platforms.

Kabir Suman has also confirmed the news of his arrival in Dhaka from his personal Facebook profile recently. The post mentions that he will arrive in Dhaka on October 13 or 14.

Kabir Suman performed for the last time in Bangladesh on October 16, 2009. The popular Indian music director, songwriter, singer, composer, politician, and former journalist shot to fame in the 1990s with Bangla albums such as ‘Tomake Chai (I Want You)’ and ‘Boshe Anko (Sit-and-Draw)’.
