Bangladeshi rock band Artcell has finally dropped their latest track ‘Harano Chetona’ on Tuesday night. Netizens have claimed the new song, now streaming exclusively on the Gaan App, is plagiarised.
Just after its release, netizens started to claim that the guitar solo used in the track was originally played by Jewel from the legendary Bangladeshi rock band Miles and not by Artcell’s lead guitarist Kazi Faisal Ahmed. Warfaze, Powersurge, and AvoidRafa guitarist Samir Hafiz used his verified Facebook profile and commented on the announcement post on Artcell’s verified Facbook page, which reads, “The solos were not played by Foysal Bhai. It’s actually Jewel Bhai.”
Some fans posted about the uncanny resemblance between ‘Obimrishshota,’ an old Artcell track played and composed by their former guitarist Ershad Zaman, and their new track ‘Harano Chetona.’
One fan named RH Turza commented on the announcement post on Artcell’s verified Facbook page, “Hello, why do a remake of the song ‘Obimrishshota’? The whole band sound changed..... There’s no touch of the old Artcell. But not bad. Still love the old version. This one is good too.”
“Never thought, that Artcell would use same tune for different song. Hindi remake of Tamil movie,” another fan named R Islam Sakib jokingly commented on the same post.
However, popular band Cryptic Fate’s verified Facebook page loved the new track and dubbed it “Very different!”
It has been almost two decades since the band released their last album. Afterwards, when the band finally announced their new solo, the fans started to treat this ‘mythical third album’ as if it were a meme, refusing to believe the band’s claims until its eventual release.
After the exclusive release, ‘Harano Chetona’ is receiving harsh criticism from both fans and critics.
