Fatima Tuz Zahra Oyshee is one of the busy singers in recent times who could manage balancing singing career and academic life very well. Besides her solo career, she is equally active as a playback singer.

Oyshee recently hit headlines by lending her voice for the title song of Raihan Rafi directorial ‘Damal’. Singer Shakib Chowdhury sang along with Oyshee in the song written by Rasel Mahmud and tuned-composed by Arafat Mohsin Nidhi.

Talking to The Business Post on Monday, Oyshee said: “It was a great experience for me to collaborate in the song for ‘Damal’. It is a very powerful song that can motivate anyone and kindle the spirit. As the storyline of the film is about the country’s football; the song was composed accordingly.”

Asked about the progress of the shooting of ‘Damal’, Oyshee said: “As far I know, 90 per cent shoot of the film is already done.”

‘Damal’ features a huge ensemble that includes Siam Ahmed, Bidya Sinha Mim, Shariful Razz and Samia Othoi. Produced by Impress Telefilm Ltd, the film was mostly shot in Syedpur and Parbatipur.

Fatima Tuz Zahra Oyshee, who took home the National Film Award 2019 for Best Female Playback Singer for the title track of Masud Pathik directorial ‘Maya – The Lost Mother’, already sang more than 40 playback songs.

Talking about her plans regarding her solo career and playback in films, Oyshee said: “I want to focus on both equally. At this moment, some of my upcoming projects remain postponed due to my MBBS final year exams. I will resume all these after my exams are over in September.”

Oyshee was a part of singer-composer Kaushik Hossain Taposh’s recreation of the iconic song ‘Jodi Raat Pohale Shona Jeto’ which was released on the occasion of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s 46th martyrdom anniversary on Sunday.

“’Jodi Raat Pohale Shona Jeto’ is a great song about our great leader Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. We are experiencing very positive response after the song was unveiled marking the National Mourning Day this year. I feel very honoured to be a part of the song,” said Oyshee mentioning that rearrangement of the song was really a praiseworthy initiative by Kaushik Hossain Taposh.

Taposh collaborates with 14 other singers—Oyshee, Luipa, Dola, Anika, Dora, Earnnick. Reshmi, Tashfee, Shithi Saha, Puja, Haimanti, Putul, Zhilik and Kornia in the new version of the song produced jointly by TM Productions and TM Records.

‘Jodi Raat Pohale Shona Jeto’ was written by songwriter Hasan Motiur Rahman and was originally composed by Moloy Kumar Ganguly. It was first sung by Moloy Kumar Ganguly and afterwards by Sabina Yasmin.

As for Oyshee, the singer released a good number of new songs this year including ‘Akash Kinte Chai’, ‘Khunje Firi Tai’, ‘Arale Cholo Na’, ‘Bhalobasha Emoni Rog’ and ‘Kala Re’.
