Asaduzzaman Noor, an iconic actor in the entertainment industry of Bangladesh and a member of the parliament, turns 76 years old today. His colleagues and fans celebrate the day and wish him on his birthday.

“Happy Birthday Noor Bhai. I wish you will remain in good health. I also hope he will be in the entertainment arena actively and it will be great if he starts acting in some good stories again,” said Suborna Mustafa.

Suborna Mustafa and Asaduzzaman Noor appeared in many projects of the 90s, known as the golden period of television. While Noor played Baker Bhai in Humayun Ahmed’s ‘Kothao Keu Nei,’ Suborna portrayed Muna. The two characters are beloved even today.

However, Noor will be celebrating the day in a homely manner. “I don’t have any interest in my birthdays. I even said my theatre team to not do anything when I turned in my 50s, 60s or 70s. My birthdays have never been celebrated with big parties in my childhood. On this day my mother used to take many food items when I was young. Apart from that nothing much,” said Noor.

Born on October 31, 1946, the freedom fighter and former Cultural Affairs Minister began his journey as an actor in theatre. He eventually gained fame through television and films. Asaduzzaman Noor started his career with the theatre troupe Nagorik in 1973.  Noor’s first TV drama was ‘Ronger Fanush’ which was directed by Abdullah Al Mamun. He got his break-through in acting during his early days as a Bangladesh Television artiste.

His notable dramas include ‘Kothao Keu Nei’, ‘Oyomoy’, ‘Bohubrihi’ and ‘Ei Sob Din Ratri’. His films ‘Shonkhonil Karagar’ (1992) and ‘Aguner Poroshmoni’ (1994) won National Film Awards.
