Taylor announces ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’

Taylor Swift thrilled fans in her hometown of Nashville on May 6, announcing that “Speak Now” will be the next album in her “Taylor’s Version” series of re-recorded albums. She gave fans plenty of time to pre-order the album, which will be released in all formats on July 7th. The album is a re-recorded version of Swift’s 2010 album, “Speak Now,” which was her third album and the first one for which she was the sole songwriter on all the tracks.

Swift made the announcement during her Eras Tour in Nashville, inviting fans to direct their attention to the big screens, where the album cover and release date were displayed. Swift then surprised the crowd by launching into “Sparks Fly,” a track from the album. Shortly after the announcement, Swift took to social media to share the news, expressing her pride and joy in the forthcoming album and its six extra “vault” tracks.

The “Speak Now” album is known for its brutally honest, unfiltered, and diaristic confessions, which are a hallmark of Swift’s songwriting style. The album tells the tale of growing up, flailing, flying, and crashing and living to speak about it. The album features hits like “Mine,” “Back to December,” “Mean,” “The Story of Us,” “Sparks Fly,” and “Ours,” and Swift has promised fans six extra songs in the re-recorded version.

Swift has been re-recording all of her albums released by Big Machine Records, with “Fearless” and “Red” already released in Taylor’s Version editions. The re-recorded albums allow Swift to own the recordings outright, following her public distress at her Big Machine catalog’s sale against her wishes. The “Taylor’s Version” editions have been strong sellers, with fans following Swift’s request to only stream or buy the new versions.

Fans had long speculated about which album would be next to receive the Taylor’s Version treatment, with many leaning towards “Speak Now” or “1989.” The album cover features a more mature Swift, sporting a similar dress to the one she wore on the original album cover in 2010. Swift’s announcement of the re-recorded album has generated excitement among fans, who can’t wait to hear the new versions of their favorite songs.
