Xefer back with new song ‘Ojana’

Singer-songwriter Xefer Rahman has collaborated with promising rock band ‘Arekta Rock Band’ for a new song titled ‘Ojana’, nearly two years after she did playback in the National Award-winning film ‘No Dorai’ in 2019.

The song ‘Ojana’ is co-written by Xefer, Arekta Rock Band’s lead vocalist Riasat Azmi and Raihan Mahbub Rasha. 

Jointly sung by Xefer and Riasat, the song will be released on Xefer’s YouTube channel today, she confirmed The Business Post on Thursday.

Featuring both of them, the music video of the song was filmed at various locations of the capital city.

‘Ojana’s music and tune are done by Raihan Mahbub Rasha. The mix and mastering of the track are done by renowned musician Fuad Almuqtadir. The music video is directed by Nahian Ahmed.

Regarding the new release, Xefer told The Business Post, “It’s a song of very light and fun mood, based on a love story. The music video ends with a twist.”

Both Xefer and Riasat took to their social media handles to share sneak peeks of the music video with fans on Thursday. “Alright guys, the jig is up. Arekta Rock Band in collaboration with Xefer,” Riasat captioned a photo dropped on his Facebook account where he can be seen with Xefer.

Xefer Rahman, who is mostly loved by her fans for her renditions of many English songs and also her hairstyle, lent her voice for a song titled ‘Harbo Na’ in the Tanim Rahman Angshu directed film ‘No Dorai’. The song was written by Rakib Hasan Rahul and jointly tuned by Xefer and Mark Don. Mark Don also did the music for the song.

‘No Dorai’, said to be Bangladesh’s first-ever surfing film, features Sariful Razz and Sunerah Binte Kamal in the lead roles. It won the 44th National Film Awards under six categories including the Best Film award.

Talking about her latest projects, Xefer said that she will be releasing new songs every two or three months from now on. “There are more new songs in the line-up. I will release them gradually, in every two or three months. The next release will be a single.”

Singer Xefer, who also played her role as an executive producer for the film ‘No Dorai’, informed that she will not be trying her hands in film production for now. “I won’t do it now. I may do it in future. I will work for movies, as a singer, in many different ways,” she said further.

Apart from Xefer’s YouTube channel, the song ‘Ojana’ will also be available on major music streaming platforms including Spotify and iTunes.
