The broadcasting services of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 might be disrupted for eight days — from March 7 to 14 — because of the satellite solar outage or sun outage.

The disruption in satellite signals caused by interference from solar radiation might happen every morning from 9:50am to 10:03am, reads a notice by the Bangladesh Satellite Company Ltd (BSCL) on Monday, apologising for the inconvenience.

According to the BSCL, this problem may occur for five minutes on March 7, 10 minutes on March 8, 12 minutes on March 9, 13 minutes each on March 10 and March 11, 11 minutes on March 12, 10 minutes on March 13, and seven minutes on March 14.

Positioned at 119.1° East, it will provide Ku-band services for Bangladesh and its territorial waters in the Gulf of Bengal, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Indonesia, while also offering C-band capacity over the entire region.
