Bio-security protocol could be relaxed in New Zealand series

The bio-security protocol, which is on high alert during the ongoing Bangladesh-Australia series, might be relaxed in the upcoming series against New Zealand starting from September 1, said Bangladesh Cricket Board physician Debashish Chowdhury.

A stricter bio-security protocol has been the talking point of the ongoing Bangladesh-Australia series. The demands from Cricket Australia included an isolated hotel, a separate immigration process, no food on the ground, a change of ball every time it lands in the gallery and rigid quarantine rules.

Debashish told The Business Post that the bio-security protocol might not be as strict as the ongoing series in the New Zealand series.

“The Australians have arrived in a chartered flight that means they transferred from one bubble (West Indies) to another. And they needed to quarantine for only three days before starting outdoor practice. But as of now, the New Zealand team is coming in a commercial flight which means they will be touching transit airports. So, the bubble cannot be maintained,” told the BCB physician.

The itinerary is confirmed, and now, a meeting between the two boards regarding the bio-bubble will start from August 8, said Debashish.

“Our meeting about the bio-security protocol will start on the 8th. Like the Australia team, the New Zealand team will bring their own experts,” the BCB physician told TBP.
