Australian leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson hopes that playing three spinners will help them to win again in the final twenty20 international of their five-match series against Bangladesh on Monday.
Australia, after conceding the series with three losses in the first three games, managed to scrape a win in the fourth match as they defeated Bangladesh by three wickets chasing 105.
The key to restricting Bangladesh to 104 was Swepson’s incredible three wickets for 12 runs, with some help from spinners Ashton Agar and Ashton Turner.
Swepson said on Sunday that fielding three spinners is something to consider playing in Bangladesh. Swepson hoped that using three spinners would go on to help them in the final match too.
“I definitely think it’s (playing three spinners) something that should be considered somewhere like here in Bangladesh. We have seen the conditions, we have seen them play three spinners. I think that worked for them on this wicket, in these conditions.
“I might be a little bit biased but that is something that might potentially work for us. Fingers crossed, that might eventuate, let’s wait and see,” the leggie said.
Swepson also added that the conditions at Mirpur on Saturday were pretty close to the best he has ever had to bowl.
“I definitely had a bowl out thereon Saturday as it was turning a lot which is something I am not really used to. In Australia, you have to depend on your pace changes more. I guess I am a lot more familiar with that than using the wicket. Yeah, it was definitely one of the most turning wickets that I played T20 on, that was good fun,” he said.
