Bhutan has opted out from the upcoming SAFF championship, scheduled to take place from October 1 to 13 in the Maldives.
Regarding the matter, Anwarul Haque Helal, SAFF’s general secretary said, “Apart from flights, Bhutan also has quarantine issues. Therefore, they can’t take part in the championship, although they had the intention to do so.” This now makes the SAFF championship a five-team tournament, as Pakistan is currently banned by FIFA. – TBP
