Australian white-ball captain Aaron Finch has undergone successful knee surgery and is targeting a return for the Twenty20 World Cup, officials said on Friday.
The 34-year-old opener aggravated his right knee injury during a T20 clash in St Lucia last month and missed the team’s subsequent ODIs against the West Indies and their tour of Bangladesh. He went under the knife on Thursday, his first day out of a mandatory 14-day hotel quarantine after returning from Barbados. Therefore, he could not come to Bangladesh and Mathew Wade took the charge as stand-in captain in the five-match Twenty20 series which they lost 4-1. – TBP
