BCB sticking to Afghan U-19 series plans

Bangladesh Cricket Board are sticking to their plans about their home series against Afghanistan under-19 team in September, CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury said on Monday.

The Afghan youths are scheduled to visit Bangladesh for five one-day matches and one four-day match in September. All the matches are supposed to be held in Sylhet.

But amid political unrest in Afghanistan, questions now loom over the Afghan youths travelling to Bangladesh for their tour.

The BCB CEO though said that they have no information regarding the cancellation of the series and are preparing according to their plans.

“We are working according to our plans. We are working on the logistics arrangement. If they can not come, it’s their concern. But for now, we do not have such information,” Nizamuddin said.

The Afghan team were supposed to arrive in Bangladesh on August 31. The series was scheduled to be held between September 5 and September 20.

Bangladesh U-19 team were supposed to start practising at Sylhet from Monday, but it was delayed, and the young Tigers are yet to start preparing for the series.

Head coach Naveed Nawaz and local coached Talha Jubair and Mehrab Hossain will be in charge of the Bangladesh tour in the training camp and the series.

The Afghanistan U-19 started their two-week training camp ahead of their Bangladesh tour on July 28.
